Masonry wall is down

I got home from work today at 5:30 to meet the contractor and I was surprised to see that the masonry wall was down. I did not think that they were going to get to it until tomorrow. I'm excited to see it all down. They really went to town today. Here are a few photos from today:

All of the wood framing you see is the temporary shoring to hold up the house before the steel goes in. They tell me that these (8) 2x4's are enough...

Here is the steel beam and plate. They are going to put the steel in tomorrow.

 

 

Here is the first problem of the project. The partition that used to divide the kitchen and dining room was supporting a small beam that was used to frame out all of the plumbing from the bathroom above. It is not supporting a lot but we need to do something about it. The inspector will definitely have issues with this. We are going to have to find a way to support the end of that double 2x8 that you see there in the photo. That will probably add a little cost to the project.
