About Me

My photo
I wanted to thank everyone who was interested in my house construction. Despite how much I hate blogs this would be the easiest way for me to share the progress. No talk about me standing in line at Target or other stuff no one cares about. Just construction, Good and bad.

Before Photos

This week the project officially starts. Since we were home because of the Hurricane, Erin started packing up the kitchen. Demolition is supposed to start on Thursday. I have signed the contract with the contractor, we have a construction permit and trying to make the final materail selections. Here are the official before shots. If you want to come help with the demo and move all the furniture out of the house let me know. We need the help!

It is just about official. We are targeting a start date of November 1st for demolition (which we are doing) and a November 6th start date for the contractor. The design has been revised to fit within the budget and we are going to do some work ourselves but leave it mostly up to the GC. We finanaly came to the realization that we are not going to be any less busy any time soon which lead to the decision to hire someone. So for the contractor has been good to work with.

The biggest change is that we are no longer taking out the full masonry wall. The giant steel beam detail was way too expensive.

Taking advantage of the Columbus day sales we have already purchased our appliances. Working on finishes now.

Goinng to submit for permit this week. Special thank you to Damian Mesia for helping me with the structural engineering. The steel and foundation work was pretty complicated.

Soon I'll post some of the before photos but here are some quick shots from the model of the revised design. You'll see most of the design is there but we are not taking out the full wall... That saves us about $15,000.
